Movement & Dance For Older Bodies
with Gina Mendoza
As we age, most of us notice that our balance is not quite as steady as it once was. Our reaction time is a little slower. It becomes more difficult to do all the everyday things, like walking up and down stairs, or simply standing up to get out of a chair. And with a decreasing confidence in our balance, it starts to affect our confidence in moving. We begin to become aware that we may be at risk of falls. We may have already fallen. There are twinges or aches and pains we never had in the years prior.
This unfortunately, is all part and parcel of getting older, BUT, there are most definitely things we can do to help improve our balance, and therefore our confidence in our day-to-day movement.
I designed this course, with a focus on the older body. If you practise these movement techniques purposefully, look forward to experiencing that body specific targeted exercise intensity. And the bonus is that you will be learning truly supportive movement techniques that are all based in the grace and beauty of dance.
